Natasha Raheja’s ‘Cast in India’ (2014)

Natasha’s film works on two different registers: first, it reveals to us the extensive labor infrastructure and social life behind the everyday objects that we encounter in the built environment of the city, thereby highlighting our own alienation in modern life; second, it exposes the hazardous working conditions that are masked by the shiny surfaces of our great metropolises.

A Christmas Tree Story from New York City

All three of them were French-Canadians and university students who had decided to travel to NYC to sell freshly cut Christmas trees to make some extra bucks for school. They bought the trees from a Christmas Tree farm in North Carolina. Apparently, North Carolina ranks second in the U.S. for Christmas Tree production, behind Oregon.
