Five Poems

Sharmila I
Sharmila,
It’s time you stopped fasting
and validating the state
for all those gun toting
men on all sides.
***
Sharmila II
When the militants
threaten you
like the armies
and the state
you realize
don’t you
the folly
of everything
***
Sharmila III
Hope, hope, you do not
do not do not do not do not
betray like Suu Kyi.
Across the border, on all sides
are not imaginations worth
fighting for just like most, inside.
***
Sharmila IV
Love, if they do not understand, love
there is no point fighting for them
through hunger and thirst or
without it.
***
The Jibanananda Hypothesis
