Poem: For Madhu

Photo: The News Minute

By Sumit Ray

So what if he stole some rice?
How deaf are we
not to hear his cries?

Did you tell him his crime?
Or started hitting him
without reason or rhyme?

Did he say he was hungry?
Or is that why
you got violent and angry?

Did he plea innocence?
Or was he insane
unable to make any sense?

Did you go back and eat?
Or were you full
after having human meat?
